Brent Giving
Panel Ambassador
Application Form

Become a Brent Giving Panel Ambassador

This is our first year. We are piloting a resident-led Impact Fund in Harlesden, Stonebridge, and South Kilburn. The goal is simple. Address poverty in these areas now. Learn what works. Then expand across the whole borough after year one.

What the panel does

  1. Read and discuss funding applications
  2. Agree simple priorities with the community in mind
  3. Score and decide which projects to fund
  4. Reflect on what worked and what we should change next time

Who can apply

  1. You must live in Brent
  2. We welcome applications from across Brent
  3. For this first year our focus is Harlesden, Stonebridge, and South Kilburn
  4. If you live in another part of Brent you can still apply and you can also join our interest list for future panels

Not a Brent resident? You can find a giving scheme in your borough via London’s Giving.

Payment

Panel roles are paid at the London Living Wage. The current rate is £13.15 per hour. We will confirm the rate and terms with successful applicants.

Time commitment

  • Training takes place over four sessions.
  • Once a week. Weekday evening. 2-3 hours each.
  • For example 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
  • Training runs in October to early November.
  • Panel meetings will then run once a week.
  • The location for panel meetings is to be confirmed. We will let everyone know once it is confirmed.

Training and support

The training builds skills that last.
Grant assessment. Teamwork. Conflict resolution. Community leadership.
Brent Giving will support every meeting. Clear guidance will be provided.

How decisions are made

Residents lead the decision making.
We use a clear and fair scoring process.
Brent Giving via our fiscal host Social Change Nest carries out standard checks before grants are awarded.

Equity and fairness

This is a year one pilot focused on areas with greater need.
We will keep the process simple and easy to access.
We will collect information on who applies and who is funded. This helps us spot gaps and improve access over time.
Lived experience matters in panel make up and learning.

Accessibility

Tell us if you need adjustments to take part. We will do our best to meet your needs.

Conflicts of interest and code of conduct

Having links to groups that may apply will not stop you from being a panel member. If an application involves you or your close network you will step out of that decision. We expect respectful behaviour in all sessions. A short code of conduct will be shared before training.

The process

  1. Apply online on this page
  2. Shortlisting and interviews at the end of September
  3. Panel offers confirmed at the end of September to early October
  4. Training in October to early November
  5. Grant decisions begin after training is completed

Deadline

The deadline to apply is 15th September 6pm.

After you apply

You will get an email to confirm we received your form. We will get in touch if you are shortlisted for an interview. Please check your junk folder in case our email lands there.

Questions

Email us at [email protected] and we will get back to you.
